In Martin Luther King's speech, "I Have a Dream," he paints a picture of the current state of the country regarding civil rights. He elegantly explains that there will always be two sides to the issue at hand. Wherever there will be positive reenforcement behind an idea, it will always be followed by opposition and negativity. King used very powerful metaphors that created very intense visuals to the hearer and spoke of very specific things he wanted the future to hold. These images burrow into the hearer's mind and settles down there, making it impossible to dismiss the ideas he offered. The beautiful points and ideas that King makes describes a utopia that is 100% attainable. The question that arises is when and where will this utopia be attained?
The spoken word has such a powerful affect on the hearer in a way that the written word does not touch. Hearing the inflection in his voice and seeing the emotion on his face is just as powerful as the words he speaks.
In my utopia, I want to have complete equality among human beings. Race, gender, age, sexuality, social status, and economical status will not matter.
